Each year on the 9 August, Women’s Day is celebrated in South Africa. This memorable day remembers 20 000 women that marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria with a petition against the onerous pass laws in SA stipulating all SA citizens that were classified as being ”black” had to carry their passbooks.

The very first National Women’s Day was celebrated on August the 9th in 1994 with many of the original veterans taking part in marches.
